COSCO Shipping Company (COSCOL) was founded in 1999, dedicating itself to the transport of oversized and super-heavy cargoes.COSCOL owns and operates nearly 100 ships, including semi-submersible, heavy lift, multi-purpose, ro-ro/lo-lo, general cargo ships and pure car carriers. Based on mainland China, COSCOL has formed a global operating network covering Hong Kong, South Korea, Southeast Asia, US, Europe, Australia, Africa and West Asia. It has created a competitive shipping advantage in regular liner service from Far East to Med, Europe, Persian Gulf, America and Africa.

Xiamen Ocean Shipping Company (hereafter referred to as COSCO Xiamen) was established in 1993 and now has a fleet of 12 vessels, including bulk carriers, multi-purpose carriers and high-speed passenger ships, with deadweight tons more than 300,000. COSCO Xiamen is mainly engaged in international transportation of dry bulk cargos and general cargoes. It operates mainly in  two sea routes on the general cargo liner basis: Far East- U.S. Gulf and Far East- Central & South America, undertaking cargo transportation service such as grain, mineral ores, coal, fertilizer, steels and sack sugar, etc
